The pattern on these studs was inspired by the ripples created when you drop a pebble into a pool of still water. The different colours on the surface were achieved by using a combination of textured sterling silver, oxidised silver and hand applied keum boo gilding. They are 10mm across and are quite a challenge to make!
Keum boo is the application of a pure 24k gold layer over the silver. This ancient Korean technique uses only heat, pressure and patience and allows me to place the tiny flakes of gold excactly where I want them to be.
