Shadow & Flame
These are very unusual contemporary fixed shank earrings, featuring ammolite, alpinite and Mexican fire opal gemstones.
All of the metal work is hand hammered sterling silver, which has been textured to give an uneven finish.
Ammolite is a rare stone, it is the fossilised remains for the ammonite shell, a sea creature that lived around 65 million years ago. The shells had a pearlescent nacre to it, like today's sea shells, which is what gives this beautiful stone its magical appearance. Depending on the angle you look at it, it appears black and as you move it, it shimmers in different colours.
