This is an absolutely stunning ammonite fossil displaying ammolite shimmer, split and polished into an earring pair.
This was a whole fossilized shell, around 75 million years old. The pearl like coating on the shell (much like the shimmer you see on shells found on the beach) has opalised and you can see the stunning red and green shimmer in the stone. 
Simply set in sterling silver. 
Polished by me, by hand to retain the rustic and rugged look of the fossil, but allowing the colour to pop.
